Bug in ActionTec GT701 (Sunday, November 25th, 2007) | ![]() |

Grr! There's a bug in the firmware (including the latest version available from Qwest) of the ActionTec GT701 DSL modem. When using DHCP, the DHCP server sends its own IP address instead of the primary DNS IP. The secondary DNS IP works correctly. This can cause delays of a few seconds when loading web sites, for example. The only workarounds are to not use DHCP, use a different DHCP server, or hack your client to ignore that IP (one idea here). |

“It has been claimed that a very large number of monkeys, armed with
a very large number of typewriters, would eventually reproduce the great
works of mankind. It would appear that the internet is well on its way to
proving that wrong.”
